Why award season?

For many creatives, award season can be the best time of year, and hey, we get it. It’s a time to congratulate all the great work that’s been done, champion those who have raised the standard, and find inspiration. However, for some creatives, it can all get a bit too much, and as award season begins they ultimately avoid LinkedIn altogether…

What is imposter syndrome?

LinkedIn is a professional social media platform with over 1 billion users.
It’s a great tool for job searches and staying connected.
But like any other social media platform,
use of the site can lead to feelings of envy, comparison and self-doubt. (Oliver, S, 2024)

A recent study carried out by the University of Edinburgh and the University of Southampton shows that LinkedIn, like any other social media platform, can cause feelings of self-doubt, negative comparison, and imposter syndrome (Marder et al., 2024). This point is also further highlighted in the blog titled “I scroll for 1 hour, feel anxious about myself for 1 week” (Iyer, 2021) •

Marder, B., Javornik, A., Qi, K., Oliver, S., Lavertu, L., & Cowan, K. (2024). Does LinkedIn cause imposter syndrome? An empirical examination of well-being and consumption-related effects. Psychology & Marketing, 41, 492–511

Make your LinkedIn feed FOMO free.

But now, with The Ad (Award) Blocker, you can give yourself a break while still staying connected. After all, as anyone looking for a job right now knows, LinkedIn isn’t just for the likes.

Developed using AI to scan over 10,000 award posts pinpointing over 100 of the most popular keywords (e.g., delighted, honoured, chuffed etc), The Ad (Award) Blocker removes award posts, making your LinkedIn feed FOMO-free.

Giving those that need it a delightful bit of peace of mind during award season.

The Ad (Award) Blocker is powered by Google’s AI model “Gemini.” The large language model scanned over 10,000 LinkedIn award posts from 2023, and pinpointed more than 100 of the most commonly used words and phrases, even down to the most popular by region. Some of the results say a lot about how people talk on LinkedIn, with the US and Canada using more sincere words like “humbled,” “grateful,” and “blessed,” whereas Ireland and the UK use more everyday words and phrases like “chuffed,” “thrilled to bits,” and “over the moon.” But there’s one word that always comes out on top, no matter the region, and that’s (drum roll)… “delighted.” There’s no surprise there
